Music Video Part I

1TYM’s early videos are informally done, with minimal sets or glossy production. In their debut video, “One Time For Your Mind,” the group hints at formal choreography, but most of the footage is of them performing the song through a pinhole lense and engaging in light horseplay.  In “Good Love,” there is some set design (the hall of an apartment building) which they use - along with some well-placed cheerleaders - as a prop to perform the single.  Two years later, 1TYM returns with an upgraded creative aesthetic that is showcased in their romantic video for “One Love,” which takes place in various urban and natural environments in Los Angeles. They also begin using storylines to highlight their dual boys-will-be-boys and romantic sides. In “Nasty” 1TYM members trade questionable material to a noraebang owner so they can use the facility for free; in “Mother,” a son steals money from the family and learns the consequences; and in “Hot” 1TYM literally sets the roof on fire with their rhyme skills. Conversely, in “Without You” Teddy is left alone to deal with a break up, while the video for “Cry” shows each member dealing with life’s daily disappointments. The last videos right before 1TYM’s hiatus culminate these dual images: “Do You Know Me?” is an intense video showing images of guns, mild torture, and gang culture; while “How Many Times?” chronicles the difficult nature of shaky romantic relationships.
