Music Video Part I

Most of BoA’s videos promote her dance tracks and take place on set, with occasional global locations.  As her work evolves, the videos eventually include ballads, and song lyrics are  demonstrated through storylines and/or choreography. Throughout her music videos, BoA’s image goes from tomboy to romantic to flirtatious with a culmination of all these personalities as she matures into a more confident artist.

BoA’s debut video promoted her first single “ID; Peace B.” The video is meant to introduce viewers to the singer, and begins with footage of the artist preparing to record music and practicing choreography. This is also one of the few videos where BoA is shown dancing by herself. Her second video takes place in New York City, where BoA and her dance team dance on the Brooklyn Bridge and BoA visits Times Square. “Amazing Kiss” is the first video that was recorded in two languages (Japanese and Korean). “Listen to My Heart” was BoA’s first Japanese single. The video depicts BoA relaxing while getting her hair done and performing choreography to the single. Her next Japanese single, “Every Heart,” is BoA’s first ballad, and the accompanying video shows a reflective side of the singer as she contemplates the beauty of the world while riding a Ferris Wheel during the course of a day. The romantic side of BoA continues in her next video for “Waiting.” BoA begins to showcase a more flirtatious side while performing in her videos for “My Sweetie” and “No.1,” and especially “Valenti,” a song that offers a Latin style to listeners and shows in the accompanying choreography. For her single “Destiny,” BoA performs in a field of firelit flowers, and in “Jewel Song” we see the artist’s first forays into sets that are enhanced by with CGI effects.
