Jay Park originally asked his fans to name themselves based on the colors he wanted the group to have (black and yellow). When the post popular response was “Bumblebee,” he was worried about the viability of his male fans calling themselves bumblebees. To be more inclusive, Park decided to collectively name his fans Jay Effect, noting that individual fans would be called Jaywalkers (sometimes styled as JayWalkerz or JWalkerz). Park keeps his fans aware about his latest activities via YouTube, where he uploads new choreography, music, and intermittent personal messages.
