Music Video Part I

NRG’s videos showcase common elements of 1st wave Kpop videos, especially the use of identical costuming, and heavy inspiration from video gaming environments. In “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” NRG introduce themselves as romantics, an image heightened by the use of water, custom suits, and lots of close-up shots so they can properly greet their fans. In “Making Love,” the group shows off their dancing skills, and the high energy the group comes to be known for is showcase through their gaming concept. The other-worldy idea continues in the video for “Messenger.”

In 1999, NRG brings us videos that more reality-based. “You! Me!” is a video that has no film treatment save for some stylized black and white scenes. It also shows NRG enjoying winter weather and showcasing their dance skills.  NRG returns to their video-inspired environment in “Face” and makes use of green-screen technology in their Christmas-themed video, “First Noel.”  One of their most popular singles, “I Can Do It” features behind-the-scenes footage of the group as they prepare for a show. “Friends” reminds fans of international focus of NRG, with the video taking place in New York City, and “Hit Song,” reminds fans of the high impact and fun energy the group wants to convey, with images of fast cars, cool choreography, and humor.
