Young Turks Club released their first album, (Affection) in the late summer of 1996, starting with their first single “Peeking.” The single did not succeed as expected, so it was quickly followed by the second single, “정” (“Affection”), a mid-tempo song featuring a fusion of hip-hop beats and dance rhythms. The song quickly became very popular and is still considered one of their most successful songs. After Affection, the group went through the first of many member line-up changes: Lim Sung Eun decided to go solo, and Park Sung Hyun took her place in time for the group to release their second album, featuring both the heavy bubblegum pop sound of “질투” (“Jealousy”) the the hip-hop/dance ballad “타인” (“Others”). The group’s membership remained stable through their third album, which included the release of the single “하얀전쟁” (“White War”). After promotions for their third album, male members Ji Joon Goo, Choi Seung Min, and Park Sung Hyun left the group to pursue their own careers.

When the group released their fourth album, 아시나요 (Did You Know?) they also had three new members: Jun Hyun Jung, Kim Duk Hyun, and Nam Hyun Joon (AKA Poppin’ Hyun Joon), another upbeat pop song. By the end of 아시나요 promotions, which continued through 1999, the male members left, leaving Young Turks Club to regroup as a three-member girl group in 2000. The three female members returned with three more albums: From Dawning to Now, Upgrade No.1, and Rainbow Vol.7, releasing singles “Sad Lovers” and “Reunion.” Despite two more comebacks (Slap Shot, Arise) with former group members, Young Turks Club has not regained the same levels of success they enjoyed in their early years.
