Videography
Lee Hyori’s solo debut video 10 Minutes solidly establishes the artist’s sexy image as she walks through her neighborhood visiting places primarily occupied by men as they work and play. Her second video for the hip-hop laced track Hey Girl continues showing Lee Hyori’s assertive sexuality, this time enacted in a casual party environment. The Remember Me video opts to show Lee Hyori’s natural side, using various still photos of artist instead of film footage. The photos give viewers a sense of introspection and offer an innocent, calmer image of Lee Hyori. In 2005, Lee Hyori participated in a series of commercial films produced by Samsung, which promoted their mobile phone brand Anycall. The series of three videos , titled Anymotion, Anyclub, and Anystar, relayed a story of a dancer’s rise to fame, and was a collaborative effort featuring Teddy (1TYM), Eric (Shinhwa) and Park Bom (2NE1). In 2006, Lee Hyori returned with a video for her track Get Ya, where she brings her dance skills and sexy concept to the underworld. For her video, Shall We Dance, Lee Hyori attempts to seduce the viewer - and herself - into moving to contemporary and Latin-inspired rhythms. In 2008, Lee Hyori shows us her relaxed image again in the video Straight Up, wherein viewers watch images of her daily life interspersed with her informal performance of the song. In U Go Girl, Lee Hyori reenacts the classic tale of a clumsy girl undergoing a physical transformation. Two years later (2010), Lee Hyori returns with a somber video, walking along the beach with an errant clown. Her second video from her H-Logic album, titled Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, takes on tones reminiscent of the 1980s movie Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and remixes them with a story surrounding UFOs and takeover of planet Earth.
