f(x) has had a relatively steady production of music since their 2009 debut, offering up four singles, two mini-albums, one album, and a repackaged album. Additionally, they made an appearance on the original soundtrack for the K-drama, Paradise Ranch, which starred TVXQ member Changmin.

f(x)’s early singles, La chA TA, Chu~♡, and NU ABO, are distinctly flirty, using a mix of unique instrumentation, strong vocals, and a laid-back rap style to evoke confidence and subdued sensuality. Is it OK? a lighthearted tune performed for the Paradise Ranch OST, is one of the few where Amber’s singing shines. Pinnochio is f(x)’s first full album. It showcases songs about the perilous side of love, with titles like Pinocchio (Danger), Gangsta Boy and Dangerous.

f(x)’s album Hot Summer is a repackage of Pinocchio and features a collaboration with SHINee. In 2012, f(x) released the mini-album Electric Shock, featuring heavy electronic dance tracks and unusual rhythms.
