Tiger JK signed with Oasis Entertainment in 1995 and released his first album, Enter the Tiger, the same year. Even though most of the songs were banned on South Korean radio stations, the album did well. Between 1995 and 2006, Tiger JK focused on his work and promotions with the duo Drunken Tiger (with DJ Shine), releasing Year of the Tiger, The Great Rebirth, The Legend Of..., Foundation, and 1945 Liberation. In 2005 DJ Shine withdrew from the group, and Tiger JK continued to release music under the name Drunken Tiger, including Sky is the Limit, Rhapsody, Feel gHood Muzik, and the fun single Doo Doo Doo Wop Ba Ba Lu.

Tiger JK’s lyrical content was originally inspired by his experiences with and observations of racial discord in the United States. He often credits Bob Marley as his style inspiration - one that is most heavily felt in his single “Uncensored Love Song.” Clever use of word play, complex rhyming, and content variation are often cited as reasons for his successful longevity and enduring status as a premier and respected Hip Hop artist in Korea and in the United States.
