Music Video Part I

Wheesung’s videos use varied imagery, from classic 90s-inspired R&B videos (lots of fabric, dramatic storylines, vivid colors), to nods to the 1950s (“Love is Delicious”). As time goes on, Wheesung moves with the times, incorporating familiar elements of modern Kpop videos (studio backgrounds, tailored clothing, high production values). Within this evolution, Wheesung most often employs storylines that chronicle the breakup of relationships. Also is evident in Wheesung’s video library is his own personal aesthetic, which goes from a relaxed neo-soul (“I Am Missing You,” loc’d hair, unstructured costuming), soft rebellious urban male (“With Me,” spiked blond hair, wrapped extremities, jewelry) strong sexual male (“Goodbye Luv,” partial nudity, implied full nudity, facial hair; and even notably darker skin tone), to finally, soft masculinity (“Love is Delicious,” “Heartsore Story,” tailored clothing, accessories, custom haircuts and hair color, etc.).
