SM☆SH’s first videos “Emergency” and “Never Ending Story” show off the group’s dual masculinities. “Emergency” includes all the classic elements of hard masculinity: dark lighted studio set, wild hair, and clothing with military details), while “Never Ending Story” shows group members dressed in white, worried about a love confession, and performing aegyo to viewers.

After the group’s two-year hiatus, they returned with Japanese songs and a consistent harder masculinity. For every Japanese single except “Bounce☆Up” (incidentally, this song is also a return to a younger image), the group performs on abstract, closed sets.

In 2012 SM☆SH returned to Korea, promoting “Get Your Swag On” with Tony Ahn. The fun video is informal and reveals behind-the-scenes footage as Ahn and SM☆SH record the song and make preparations to promote the single. For “I’ll Protect You,” the group returns to closed sets, dancing in front of a fictitious movie theatre.
