Sunny Hill debuted with the mini-album Love Letter, which featured their debut single, “Ringback Tone,” a soft pop song about hoping for (and fearing) a call from an old love. The album was successful, garnering the group an Excellent Newcomer Award. The group followed that success with a single for the Christmas season (Winter Story), and then had a break, not reappearing until the summer of 2008 with their second mini-album, 2008 Is My Summer, leading with the popular song “Love Is All I Know.” The group finished out 2008 by participating in Korean drama soundtracks (“The Last Scandal of My Life,” and “Little Mom”)

From 2008 - 2011, the group was in hiatus and returned with new members Kota and Misung with the group’s third mini-album, Midnight Circus. All tracks were written, composed and produced by group members, resulting in an edgier sound that makes use of instruments not heard often in popular music (e.g., accordions). Throughout the rest of 2011, Sunny Hill continued lending their voices to Korean drama soundtracks (“The Greatest Love”) and released another single (“Pray”).

Janghyun began his military service in 2012, but his voice is still heard on their single “The Grasshopper Song,” a beat-driven pop song with tongue-tying lyrics and a simple chorus. Their next single, “Princess & Prince Charming” is the first that only features the group’s female members. The group also continues to support Korean drama with more music for the shows “Salamander Guru and the Shadow Operation Team” and “I Love Lee Tae Ri.”
